Sh. Rajesh Mangal, a Senior Journalist and the National Convener of Delhi Janta Party, was born on 17 November 1959 in Delhi. He got the B.Com (Hons) degree from PGDAV College which was considered to be the base of politics. After which he also took 3 years CA Articleship training. Worked as a tax consultant for about 5 years.
During his college days, he joined the Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the Janata Party, in 1977 and was an active worker. Along with studies, he was also associated with social and cultural organizations. In 1980, he formed an organization called Kalyani, in which he, along with other social workers, organized protests and demonstrations for dowry-victimized women. As a social worker, he came in contact with many journalists and politicians. As a tax consultant, on one hand he did not like giving bribes to the officials, on the other hand, due to his interest in social work, he made journalism his full-time profession. He published a daily newspaper from 1985 to 1998.
Although he stayed away from politics after the disintegration of the Janata Party in 1980 and after leaving college, first as a student leader, then as a social worker and then as a powerful editor, he remained in touch with the Centre and top leaders of Delhi, including President Giani Zail Singh ji, Sh. Kedar Pandey, Sh. Brahma Dutt, Sh. HKL Bhagat, Sh. Jagdish Tytler, Sh. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Sh. Madan Lal Khurana, Sh. Saheb Singh Verma and Sh. Baikunth Lal Sharma 'Prem', etc. He has always been against the government in journalism because he believes that only those are in power can misuse power and the aim of journalism should be in the interest of the people and not the government.
In 1987, on the day Sh. VP Singh left the Congress, Rajesh announced in his magazine that VP Singh would be the next Prime Minister of India. He had developed good relations with him. Due to his unbiased and fearless journalism in the 1989 general elections, he was respected a lot by VP Singh and other big leaders of the Janata Dal and BJP. After VP Singhji, when Chandrashekharji became the Prime Minister, he came in contact with him and was very impressed by the policy of socialism.
During the Janata Dal government, the inclination towards BJP decreased due to incidents like the student movement against Mandal Commission, Rath Yatra, Babri Masjid. In the 1993 Delhi elections, he also made his wife contest for MLA. At the same time, after the BJP government was formed, when Mangal ji saw its working style, he started writing against the policies of both the main parties Congress and BJP.
